LifeSource Foundation, Inc. provides tutoring and academic enrichment courses during out-of-school time hours in the District of Columbia Public Schools and is a community partner with faith-based organizations in the metropolitan area.

Juvenile crime is often committed during out-of-school time hours. Each afternoon, millions of children are left unsupervised between the hours of 3:00-6:00pm. These unsupervised hours often lead to activities that involve gangs, teen pregnancies, high dropout rates, drug abuse and incarceration.

Out-of-school time programs keep our children safe and provide them with much needed supervised and structured activities. Students who participate in structured programs are less likely to use drugs, become teen parents, drop out of school and fail in academic studies.

We are in need of tutors, mentors and other volunteer services to help assist us with the growing number of students who need assistance during out-of-school time hours, summer time and weekends. Volunteering your time may mean spending two to eight hours per month encouraging a young person to stay in school, enroll in college, tutoring in subjects like math and reading or just spending quality time at a movie or in classroom environment.

To continue our missions, we need your help. We need the support of generous contributors and corporations interested in participating in a noble and worthy effort. Click here to learn more about our becoming a LifeSource Foundation partner or other ways you can help support our cause.
